Love

by Czeslaw Milosz

Love means to learn to look at yourself
The way one looks at distant things
For you are only one thing among many.
And whoever sees that way heals his heart,
Without knowing it, from various ills

A bird and a tree say to him: Friend.
Then he wants to use himself and things
So that they stand in the glow of ripeness.
It doesn't matter whether he knows what he serves:
Who serves best doesn't always understand.

aha.

I've been mulling over this "project" I have to fall in love with myself, and so far I haven't quite figured out how to go about it.

this helps.

Reading this post made me realize that we all have to love ourselves a little bit more!

I've never read this poem before - thank you for the introduction...

The photos are beautiful, and the texture, the lines, of that log in the first photo makes me swoon...

:-)

Beautiful, and immensely profound. What kind of flower/plant is that pink one? It's gorgeous.

honey, it's right there nestled in this:

It doesn't matter whether he knows what he serves:
Who serves best doesn't always understand.

I'm glad flutter said it first to ease the awkwardness, but I just love you, too.

Simply beautiful.

Truth.
Yes.

And, your photos are impressionistic paintings. They seem to match your soul. Or is it the other way around? (I'm a tad circular this evening.)

Loved the poem. Thank you, again.

I liked that bit especially.

I enjoyed getting caught up over here. But I have a question. You mentioned in a post that soon you and Arjun will soon be spending your days apart. Where are you/he going? Did you mean forever? (Please say no)

I've missed you!

I'm reading now, but will be writing again soon. This, though, was lovely...and exactly how I felt about the two greatest loves of my life. One of whom is turning 3 tomorrow!

Just stumbled onto your blog and will definitely be coming here regularly- this post is delightful; I know the poem well but the photographs you put with it are so well matched it's breathtaking and I had to comment. Awesome pictures, beautiful words. I'll be back :)
