Maddness in the suburbs

Today on my way to a dog walking field
I noticed a field-fire.
Smoke obscured the road.
Some flames eagerly reach towards tree tops,
others lap up ground grasses.
Heat crackles across my skin.
Fire everywhere.

After phoning the fire brigade
we restart our walk.

A vehicle comes speeding down the road towards us.
I quickly bundle wolves to the side.
We wait for the vehicle to speed pass.
They slow down.

A slightly harassed looking girl winds down her window,
leans out and asks:
"Have you seen a wild buck passing this way?"

more difficulties, more frayed nerves, yes?

Buck? As in male deer? Oh now I really want to know more.

I would love nothing more than to hug those puppies and give a little pinch on the bum....

This looks nothing like the suburbs we have in the United States.

The pup is getting so big. He/she is beautiful, I guess all babies are, but furry ones seem more beautiful somehow.

You are the master of mystery and words. I love the road you were walking on- somehow feels like home even though I've never touched a road like that and certainly now am not near one. But I'd like to.

I have been away for a hundred years (okay, a few months) and it's wonderful to see your pups looking so old.

We have a kitten to match!

Lovely to read you again, Hele. Sorry I've been away so long.
